Rare ‘goods’ you will pay more for due to VAT rise in Greece (photos)

The cost of buying a number of essential products, like cheese, rice, milk will rise from June 1, as a result of the hiked VAT, protothema.gr reports. The Greek newspaper’s site adds that ” the new law also includes increases in some pretty bizarre things! We compiled a list of what things and animals you will have to pay more to get from now on…” 

The list includes:

Donkeys

Lard

Eels

Intestines (meaning traditional Easter magiritsa will be more expensive)

Mosses and Lichens

Conifer tree branches!

Mate (drink in South America)

Rape or Colza seeds (used for machinery lubricants)

Ginseng (plant found mainly in Asia)

Molasses

Groundnut oil cake
