Greek fnancial prosecutor Ioannis Dragatsis has started focusing on companies, entrepreneurs and general borrowers who have received bank loans of amounts of over 30 million euros since 2009 and are currently classified as non-performing loans.
Borrowers who meet that criteria and have sent most or all of their money abroad are finding themselves under close scrutiny by the prosecutor who has asked banks to supply lists of all such borrowers.
The prosecutor is looking for correlations between the loans issued and whether or not those amounts of money sent abroad became deposits or investments outside of Greece.
Dragatsis is moving forward swiftly with his investigation, giving the banks five days to provide the information so he can cross-check the names with a list provided by the Bank of Greece of sums sent abroad.
