Greece exceeds budget revenue targets and slashes expenses in 2016

The Greek Ministry of Finance has published its figures on the budget execution for the five-month period between January and May, according to which net state revenue amounted to 19.194 billion euros, exceeding the target for 2016 by 1.7%.

The net revenue of the regular budget amounted to 17.249 billion euros, exceeding targets by 759 million euros (4.6%). Revenue refunds amounts to 1.206 billion euros, exceeding targets by 128 million euros.

As for budget expenses, the Ministry noted that they amounted to 22.022 billion euros, which is 2.738 billion euros lower than the initial target. Regular budget expenses amounted 18.9 billion euros, which was 2.367 billion euros less than the initial target.
