European Central Bank lowers Emergency Liquidity Assistance limit

Bank of Greece announced that following a request to the ECB, the latter agreed to lower the ELA threshold for Greek banks by €1.4bn to €57.2bn (previously at €58.6bn) until September 8.

As per the same announcement, the reduction in the ELA ceiling reflects an improvement of the liquidity situation of Greek banks, amid a reduction of uncertainty and the stabilization of private sector deposits flows.
