Eurostat: Greece leads European Union unemployment with 23.5%

According to Eurostat, Europe’s statistical services, Greece has the highest rate of unemployment with 23.6% in May 2016. Spain came in second with those without work reaching 19.6%, followed by Croatia (13.2%). The average EU 28 unemployment rate stands at 8.6% for July 2016, while the best performance in the employment comes from Malta with 3.9%, followed by the Czech Republic and Germany with 4.2% unemployment.

Overall unemployment fell in 24 EU countries and increased in 3 countries. Greece also leads youth unemployment with 50.3%, followed by Italy (39.2%). On the inflation front, Eurostat forecasts the Eurozone will have 0.2% in August.
