Greek state debts in arrears increased by 1.368 billion euros in August to reach 8.986 billion euros, up from 7.618 billion euros in July, according to monthly figures given by the General Secretariat for Public Revenues on Tuesday. This brought the total of old (up until December 31, 2015) and new state debts in arrears to 91.582 billion euros. Of the total increase of state debts, 1.014 billion euros are overdue taxes.
The total number of state debtors in August reached 4,030,910, down from 4,128,962 in July. The estimated number of debtors that can be subjected to forced collection measures is 1,541,870, while 774,321 debtors have already been subjected to a forced collection regime.
