The economy in the occupied areas is not doing well two former so called ‘economy ministers’ and a trade union chairman told Kibris newspaper on Friday.
According to information from the Cyprus Press and Information Office, Ersin Tatar, a member of the National Unity Party (UBP) and former so called “minister” stated that in the occupied areas debt is a great problem. He also stated that the buying power of the so called ‘citizens of the TRNC’ has been reduced.
Birikim Ozgur, a member of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) said that the economic growth will be limited to 2.4 per cent and noted that this could cause poverty and significant financial problems for the Turkish Cypriots.
On his part, HUR-IS Trade Union’s chairman Yakup Latifoglu stated that the so called ‘government’ should take measures for increasing the minimum salary, noting that on July 1 the minimum was 634 US dollars (608 euros), while now it is 524 dollars (502 euros).
