Cosmote will offer its mobile customers mobile internet speed of up to 500 Mbps in Athens and Thessaloniki and other regions of the country as the company rapidly expands these services in Greece.
Mobile customers will be able to use advanced multimedia applications such as HD Streaming and HD Video Conferencing, more easier, quality and direct access of large data files. Cosmote launched a pilot program offering Internet speed up to 500 Mbps in November, during the Infocom congress, after the company obtained additional spectrum at 800MHz and 2.6GHz and through the technologies LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) 3xCarrier Aggregation (3CA) & 256 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (256QAM).
Cosmote and Germanos retail networks will exclusively offer the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe smartphone, able to support this new service at a price of 699 euros.
OTE Group has invested more than 2.0 billion euros in the last five years and plans to invest 1.3 billion in the next four years, remaining the largest investor in the telecommunications market by far. Its 3G network covers 99 pct of the population, while a 4G network covers 90 pct of the population.
