A significant reduction of 7.9% was indicated by the Greek receipts from tourism between January – September 2016 compared with the corresponding period of 2016.
The decrease reflects primarily the decrease in receipts from residents of other countries outside the EU by 15.4%, which amounted to 3.206 billion euros.
Conversely, an increase of 6.1% was shown in the incoming travel movement reaching 23.98 million tourists.
Regarding the major travel origin countries, receipts from Germany decreased by 8.5% and receipts from France also fell by 25.8%. The proceeds from the United Kingdom decreased by 7.4%. Among the other countries outside the EU, an increase of 2.9% appears in receipts from Russia, while the receipts from the US fell by 26.1%.
