Greek competition authorities are examining a wave of deals in the food sector which is currently in a restructuring phase.
The competition watchdog has been informed of a consolidation plan between OPTIMA companies -owned by Panteliadis family- and the Italian group of dairy products Granarolo International, to acquire Quality Brands International (QBI), a food company focusing on food distribution and particularly cheese products.
Competition authorities are also examining another consolidation plan between Delta Foods -a subsidiary of Vivartia Holdings of Marfin Investment Group- and Chatzakos family to acquire MEVGAL -a dairy industry based in Northern Greece.
