Greek Finance Ministry: State arrears to private sector up in January 2017

The Greek government earmarked 9.3 million euros to repay state arrears to the private sector in January, the Finance ministry said on Thursday.

State arrears to the private sector grew to 3.602 billion euros in January, from 3.310 billion in December -a month during which the government paid 2.748 billion euros in state arrears. Greek authorities approved payment of 3.062 billion euros in state arrears to the private sector in December.

Greek authorities also paid 10.4 million euros in tax return, with the outstanding tax return amount totaling 1.206 billion euros at the end of January, from 1.225 billion in December 2016. Social insurance organizations’ arrears to the private sector amounted to 2.238 billion euros in January, from 2.024 billion in December 2016.
