President of the Eurogroup Mr. Jeroen Dijsselbloem refused to apologize before the Members of the European Parliament for his provocative statements that the peoples of the European South wasted money on drinks and women and then requested support.
The leader of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament Mr. Gianni Pittella featured the Dijsselbloem statements as “indecent, shocking and biased against Europe’s southern countries,” and commented on how he really wonders how a man with such views can still be considered fit to be president of the Eurogroup ».
Jeroen Dijsselbloem’s tenure as president of the Eurogroup ends on January 1st, 2018.
