Greek merchant shipping fleet down in numbers but up in capacity

Greek merchant shipping fleet fell in numbers but rose in volume in February, with the number of vessels falling 0.3 pct compared with the same month last year to 1,843 ships, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Monday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that total capacity of the Greek merchant shipping fleet rose 0.8 pct in February, compared with the same month last year to 45,034,960 gwt, after a 0.7 pct decline recorded in the 2016/2015 period.
