The approaching start of the summer holiday season and estimates by the sector’s associations of a record number of arrivals this year have resulted in a considerable increase in new hirings – by 92,132 in April, according to the Labor Ministry’s Ergani database.
It was the third consecutive month when hirings outnumbered departures, a performance estimated to have been the best since 2001.
The positive picture is enhanced by the fact that full-time hirings exceeded – if only marginally – flexible forms of labor, accounting for 54.9 percent of new jobs.
