Handelsblatt: Schaeuble and IMF move toward compromise on Greek Debt relief

IMF is prepared to approve Greek debt relief program that would restrict the fund from paying out money until Greece reaches a level of debt sustainability, Handelsblatt reports, citing unidentified people familiar with the negotiations.

Such an agreement would win time for further talks with EU on debt relief, while it would enable next tranche of payment by ESM rescue package to prevent Greece’s bankruptcy.

German FinMin sees deal for Greece in the next three weeks

Germany΄s Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble expressed some confidence yesterday that Greece΄s international creditors would overcome their differences and agree in three weeks on a deal that would release more loans to Athens.

Mr. Schaeuble stated that no agreement had been reached on Monday, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) proving to be difficult in the talks and one member state refusing to back a deal.
