Greek Tourism Minister: Over 30 million tourists expected in 2017

If everything goes well, then we will have over 30 million tourist arrivals in 2017, said Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura in her address on Wednesday at the Panhellenic Exporters Association conference that is held in Athens.

She stressed that the figures of the first five months of 2017 show a significant increase in arrivals, revenues, reservation and 17-70 percent rise in early reservations.

The minister said that the good performance of the tourism sector will also boost investments as 142 files for the upgrading or construction of four and five-star hotels have been submitted.

She also announced a new draft law on the licencing and operation requirements of the tourist enterprises in cooperation with the relevant ministries.
