Incoming tourist traffic in Greece increased 2.5 pct in the five months from January to May, rising to 4.584 million travellers from 4.475 in the same period in 2016, the Bank of Greece said in a report on Monday.
Tourist traffic arriving through Greek airports rose 8.4 pct while that arriving by road fell by 9 pct, the report noted.
Travel from EU28 countries in the first five months of 2017 accounted for 3.0 million travellers, up 6.1 pct in comparison with 2016, while that from non-EU countries fell 4.0 pct to 1.574 million travellers. The rise from Eurozone countries was even higher, at 18.7 pct, while that from EU28 countries outside the Eurozone fell 5.8 pct.
Travel receipts in the same period rose 0.9 pct compared with the same period in 2016 to 2.067 billion euros.
