Greek car registrations rose 28.3 pct in July totaling 14,998 vehicles (new or used ones), from 11,687 in the same month last year, after a 42.9 pct increase recorded in the 2016/2015 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, noted that new car sales totaled 9,058 in July, from 7,578 in July 2016, for an increase of 19.5 pct.
In the January-July period, car registrations reached 99,588 (new or used ones), from 84,217 in the same period in 2016, for an increase of 18.3 pct. New car sales rose 8.7 pct to 63,165 vehicles in the seven-month period.
Motorcycle registrations totaled 4,001 in July, down 22.4 pct from the same month last year and after a 67 pct jump recorded in the 2016/2015 period. New motorcycle sales totaled 3,681 in July, down 24.1 pct year-on-year. In the seven-month period, motorcycle registrations totaled 19,855, down 22.3 pct from 2016 and after a 13.2 pct increase recorded in the 2016/2015 period. New motorcycle registrations totaled 18,045 during the January-July period, down 24.3 pct.
