ELSTAT : Greek industrial production index rises 1.7% in July

Greek industrial production rose 1.7 pct in July, with manufacturing production rising 1.3 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

 The statistics service, in a monthly report, announced that the industrial production composite index grew 1.7 pct in July compared with the same month in 2016, after a 5.5 pct increase recorded in the 2016/2015 period. This development was attributed to a 2.5 pct increase in the mining production index, a 1.3 pct rise in manufacturing (reflecting a 9.4 pct rise in tobacco production, a 9.0 pct increase in pharmaceuticals, a 30.6 pct in base metals, a 14 pct rise in machinery), while electricity production grew 3.8 pct. Water production fell 5.0 pct in July.

 Greece’s industrial production index increased 5.3 pct on average in the seven-month period from January to July, while the seasonally-adjusted index fell 0.7 pct in July from June 2017.
