Greek exports continue growing despite capital controls and overtaxation

A growing trend in Greek exports is continuing, Christina Sakellaridi, president of the Panhellenic Exporters Association, said of start-of-year trade figures on Wednesday, according to ANA.

All product categories, with the exception of raw materials, which fell 1.1 pct and alcohol/tobacco (-20.2 pct) recorded increases in March. Exports of oils (35.4 pct), machinery (21.2 pct), confidential products (14.3 pct) and food (12 pct) recorded the highest growth rates in exports. In the January-March period, oils (67 pct), machinery (17.3 pct), industrial products (17.2 pct), oil products (14.5 pct) showed the biggest growth rates, while alcohol/tobacco fell 7.4 pct.
