The Greek unemployment rate dropped to 18% of the workforce in December 2018, from 18.3% in November 2018, according to a Eurostat report published on Monday, int.ert.gr notes.
According to the same numbers, Greece recorded the biggest annual unemployment rate reduction in the EU (from 20.8% in December 2017 to 18% in December 2018).
In particular, the number of unemployed people in Greece was 852,000, with the unemployment rate among males at 14.1% and among females at 23.1%.
Following Greece, the highest rates of unemployment in the EU were recorded in Spain (13.9%) and Italy (10.7%), while the lowest, in the Czech Republic (1.9%) and Germany (3.1%).
Compared to a year ago, unemployment dropped in all EU countries except Denmark and Austria, where it remained stable.
