A European Union Summit on tackling the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic was held through teleconference on Thursday, int.ert.gr reports.
The Italian government has rejected the European Council’s draft statement due to the negative stance of some member states to the need to adopt Eurobonds.
Spain’s reaction was similar, while Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated the need for a ‘coronabond’.
In his speech, Mr. Mitsotakis stressed the discrepancy between the terms used to describe this crisis (unprecedented, unparalleled, etc.) and the measures taken so far, and called for all possible alternatives to a single European response to be explored.
Finally, the Greek Prime Minister briefed his counterparts on Turkey’s continuing provocative actions against our country, assuring that Greece will continue to protect its borders, which are the European Union’s external borders.
