European Stability Mechanism's chief Regling: Greece's debt is manageable

Greece’s debt is manageable, despite an increase due to the measures taken to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, as its service costs are lower than in many other countries, said Klaus Regling, head of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), on Tuesday in a joint interview with the German, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch news agencies, ANA reports.

Regling underlined that Greece has been very successful in dealing with the pandemic. He said that it has now been recognized that Greece was among those countries that have faced the pandemic well. There is a relatively small number of infected people, he noted, and a very limited number of people who have died. “So there has been a great success, in that sense, and we can only congratulate Greece on that success,” Regling added.
