Greek government adds €190 million to funding for job support program

The Greek government is expanding a job support program with additional funding of 190 million euros to cover the first period of implementation, during which companies’ revenueσ are still under pressure, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Wednesday, according to ANA.

Staikouras said the government will table to Parliament new legislation envisaging that the government will subsidize part of the time when a worker is suspended from work and part of employers’ social insurance contributions. The “ SYN-ERGASIA” program is designed to maintain job positions and strengthen social cohesion in the country. The Finance minister said that the initiative “ confirms that preserving job positions is the main priority of the government”.
