Greek government measures reduced firm closures during the lockdown

A swift government action to deal with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic contributed in reducing the number of company closures during the lockdown period from March to June 15, while the balance between company set ups and closures was positive in the previous three months of December 2019-February 2020, government sources said on Thursday, ANA reports.

Citing data from the General Registry, the sources noted that the balance between setups and closures showed an improvement of 43 pct in the December 2019-February 2020 compared with the corresponding period last year (SYRIZA government), with 2,403 more company setups and 1,055 fewer company closures, leaving a positive balance of 3,458 enterprises.
