Greek Minister: Market opening delayed so long as the pandemic is 'in full gallop'

“The pandemic cannot be stopped if the country’s political forces cannot reach an understanding in good faith and a civilized manner to stop daily demonstrations and riots that spread the virus,” Development and Investment Μinister Adonis Georgiadis noted on Wednesday in an interview with SKAI radio, according to ANA.

The minister stressed that “by no means should the police have beaten that young man on Sunday. It does not matter who he is, whether he had been arrested, what he believes, or what party he votes for. The police are not allowed to use more force than is necessary to make an arrest.” However, he added, “it is absolutely certain that yesterday some people pulled a police officer off his bike and tried to kill him. Fortunately, they did not succeed.”

Τhe minister also pointed out that so long as the pandemic is ‘in full gallop’, the opening of the market will delay.
