Greek Finance Minister: Everything is open for a reduction of VAT on food

“Everything is open for a reduction of VAT on food, depending on how the situation will develop in the near future. We have a complete picture of the cost,” Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, announced on Saturday in an interview with Skai TV, adding that “we have supported the people, and we will continue to do it, and we will do it for as long as necessary. To the extent that we can.”
The minister said that firstly the government is focusing on the budget margins, secondly, the goal is for any intervention to go to the citizen and not be lost in the supply chain, and thirdly to help mainly the middle and low incomes.
