New green-colored electricity tariff could start as low as 14 cents per kWh in Greece

The average price of electricity in the Greek stock market in December came close to 102 euros per megawatt hour, compared to 110 in the summer and 190 at the start of 2023, while in 2022, at the height of the energy crisis, it had exceeded 430 euros, electricity market sources told Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Saturday.

It was also noted that the new colored electricity tariffs (green, blue, yellow, and orange) which are available to Greek power consumers as of January 1 offer efficient alternative options depending on their preferences and their power consumption profile, sources added, as ensured in this new energy market operating framework established by the Ministry of Environment & Energy.

It was further noted that the green electricity tariff, perhaps the most popular one, could start in 2024 with prices lower than 14 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), it was highlighted.
