Greek parliament voting on levy for electricity producers to help bills in August

The Environment and Energy Ministry amendment that will relieve household electricity bills in August will be voted by the parliament’s plenary on Wednesday night, ANA reports.

Minister Thodoros Skylakakis presented the amendment to the plenary, outlining a follow-up on measures already announced by the ministry. New regulations will impose an emergency levy on producers of electricity through gas-fired units, for a time ranging from one to three months starting in August.

The levy will go to the Energy Transition Fund and will reach 10 euros per MW per electricity producer, and is calculated on the basis of the natural gas quantity used for the production of electricity.
