Crete was flooded with Greeks on August 15th, with the port of Souda welcoming thousands of travelers who chose the island for their summer vacation.
According to the data of the Coast Guard (August 11–14), 8,871 passengers arrived in Chania, along with 1,175 private vehicles, 299 trucks, 288 motorcycles and 4 buses. The “strongest” day was the eve of August 15th, when two ships transported over 2,400 visitors and more than 600 cars.
This image captures the pulse of August in Crete, when the villages, beaches and festivals are filled with people, while the hospitality and flavors of the island meet the thousands of visitors who choose it to live the experience of summer in the Aegean.
Negative image… the state of the VOAK, which with the thousands of cars of Greek and foreign tourists is anything but advertising the island. Endless queues combined with the bad road surface in most cases constitute the daily Golgotha of drivers along the entire length of it.
