Travel receipts in the country broke the 20 billion barrier in the 9 months of 2025, reaching 20.13 billion euros compared to 18.47 billion in the corresponding period of 2024.
As shown by the September Balance of Payments presented by the Bank of Greece, receipts increased by 9% compared to the 9 months of 2024 and arrivals of non-resident travelers increased by 4%.
However, September receipts decreased by 3.6% compared to September 2024 levels and amounted to 3.4 billion, although arrivals of non-resident travelers, in the same month, increased by 3.6%.
In September 2025, the current account deficit decreased compared to the corresponding month of 2024, due primarily to the improvement in the goods balance and, secondarily, the primary income balance, which was offset to a greater extent by the deterioration in the services balance and, to a lesser extent, the secondary income balance.
In the period January-September 2025, the current account deficit narrowed compared to the same period of 2024, due primarily to the improvement in the goods and primary income balances and, to a lesser extent, the services balance, while the secondary income balance deteriorated.
