Recognising historic truth is necessary in ensuring we don’t repeat crimes of the past, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Thursday in a message to mark the Pontic Greek Genocide during World War I and its aftermath.
“Today we remember the painful past of the Pontic Greeks who endured a violent uprooting and genocide,” Tsipras said in a Twitter post.
“Recognizing the historic truth is necessary in ensuring crimes and tragic mistakes of the past are not repeated. And to tackle more effectively intolerance, by building relationships of trust and dialog with our neighbours,” he added.
