Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke of a successful visit to Greece in his meeting with New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who visited him at his hotel in southern Athens on Friday night.
Putin discussed the positive business climate noting that there was agreement on many issues with the Greek side.
“I’m happy to meet you personally,” Putin told Mitsotakis, adding he hoped Russian interest will find a response from other parliamentary parties.
On his side, Mitsotakis thanked Putin and told him there’s a bipartisan agreement to further strengthen relations between Greece and Russia. He also noted that New Democracy, during its 2004-2009 government tenure, made significant efforts in promoting relations between the two countries.
Mitsotakis pointed out the need for foreign investments in the Greek economy, with emphasis on tourism.
‘We understand there is interest on the part of Russia. The country has many comparative advantages. We welcome the interest you are showing for closer economic ties’, said Mitsotakis.
The leader of ND underlined the need for Russia to help in the resolution of the Cyprus problem.
