The leader of Greece’s major opposition party, Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined his party’s commitment to supporting the Greek shipping industry during his speech at the opening of the International Shipping Expo ‘Posidonia 2016′. ‘New Democracy is against anyone who tries to harm the competitiveness of our shipping, the Greek flag on ships and Greek seamanship’, said Mitsotakis.
The leader of the conservative party said the long-standing success of the exhibition proved the country was a traditional maritime power and that it ‘can and continue to provide to the national, but also the global economy’. Mitsotakis pointed out that the largest commercial fleet in the world based in Greece contributed to the country’s economy by creating tens of thousands of jobs and substantial contribution to the GDP.
