A new meeting of the Presidents of Greek Parliament has been scheduled for the upcoming Monday in an effort to agree upon a National Council for Radio and Television (ESR). Given that the Democratic Alignment and River came to an agreement with the coalition government in the last meeting, there is optimism that a new ESR will be formed.
Although the main opposition party has consistently opposed the government’s efforts for forming new television regulator, on Tuesday New Democracy announced that it nominates a former Supreme Court president to head the ESR.
Additionally, the government will introduce an amendment for the controversial law of State Minister Nikos Pappas on television licenses on Thursday, which is expected to help towards a consensus being agreed upon in time for Monday’s meeting.
