Greece’s parliament will literally turn green to celebrate the entry into force of the UN Paris Agreement on climate change. The entire building is to be floodlit green on Friday and Saturday night, symbolising the ‘green light’ for faster action to stop global warming.
The Greek Parliament has adopted the proposal of the UN Climate Change Conference and floodlit the building that houses the Greek lawmakers, which in addition to its distinctive architecture is also notable for its bioclimatic features, according to a parliament press release.
The Greek Parliament ratified the Paris Climate Change Agreement on October 5. It is the first global and legally binding agreement on climate achieved at the Paris Climate Change Conference on December 12, 2015.
