Disagreement between Greece and lenders over labor issues

Greek Labor Minister Efi Achtsioglou met the Institutions’ representatives on Sunday to discuss labor issues; their meeting lasted four hours. The Greek government mainly aims at reinstating collective bargaining and achieving expandability of sectoral collective agreements. Collective redundancies are also one of the most crucial issues of the negotiations. According to Labor Ministry sources, the IMF insists on increasing the limit of collective redundancies, while the Greek government rejects any such possibility.

As regards minimum wage, the two sides disagree on the way of its determination. The Greek government argues that it should be reinstated, while the Institutions have expressed their disagreement thereon.
