The Greek Foreign Ministry condemned the new provocative statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who once again challenged the Lausanne Treaty by saying that it is not a sacred text and its content should therefore be discussed.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Stratos Efthymiou denounced Erdogan’s statements as unacceptable and added “In the face of the revisionism repeatedly suggested by the Turkish leaders, Greece remains unswervingly devoted to ensuring international rule of law, peace and stability”. New Democracy commented that the repeated statements by Turkish President challenging the Lausanne Treaty is a pretty serious matter, while the Independent Greeks said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan has crossed the line in terms of provocativeness.
