UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Boris Johnson is expected to visit Cyprus next week, reliable sources have told CNA on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the same sources have revealed that the international and European contacts President Nicos Anastasiades has been having are a credit to the Greek Cypriot side’s reaction after the impasse reached during Cyprus talks in Mont Pelerin.
Earlier on Thursday, President Anastasiades also spoke on the phone with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, government spokesperson Nikos Christodoulides announced on his Twitter.
May had confirmed Johnson’s visit to Anastasiades, CNA reported.
Anastasiades has held contacts with European leaders, including a phone call with EU High Representative on Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini on Thursday.
Germany has also expressed its confidence that President Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci will be able to continue talks.
France, through Minister of State for European Affairs Harlem Desir, has said that it is ready to contribute to achieving a Cyprus solution in any way it can.
