Turkey asks for demilitarization of the Greek Island of Kasos

Turkey continues its provocations in the Aegean by issuing a new NOTAM on Friday asking for the demilitarization of the Greek island of Kasos.

The NOTAM says that one of the three ares in which Greece is conducting military exercises includes the island of Kasos, which, according to the 1923 Lausanne Peace Treaty is a demilitarized zone. Thereby, no military exercises should be conducted in the area.

The NOTAM came one day after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu claimed that the Imia islet belongs to Turkey, stating that his country would not accept a de facto situation.
