Improving cooperation and coordination between the competent Greek authorities and the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) were the main issues discussed at a meeting at the interior ministry on Friday.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas, Interior minister Panos Skourletis, Alternate Interior Minister Nikos Toskas and the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Greece, Philippe Leclerc.
The two sides discussed UNHCR’s activities in Greece and ways to organize communication with the Greek officials who are handling the refugee crisis. Both sides agreed that only an improved communication can lead to better results and improve the offered support services wherever they come from.
