For the second time this year, the Greek National Council on Foreign Policy, presided over by Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, met on Friday to discuss the Cyprus issue.
After Thursday’s meeting between Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akinci, Mr. Anastasiades stated that some progress has been made on certain issues, while other remain outstanding. President Akinci fully supported Ankara’s stance, according to which Turkey should remain guarantor power after the Cyprus issue is settled. The next meeting of Presidents Anastasiades and Akinci has been scheduled for January 4th, with a possibility of another meeting on January 7th.
