The head of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis on Tuesday met the commander of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) Rear Admiral Axel Deertz. They discussed the ongoing allied operation to stem refugee flows in the Aegean and its future prospects. Rear Admiral Deertz, who took over SNMG2 command on December 22, 2016, then also met the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS) chief Rear Admiral Georgios Giakoumakis.
