Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s stance toward the EU at the conference on Cyprus in Geneva, does not reflect the “culture of compromise” needed, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said on Monday.
ANA-MPA has learnt that an EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, Kotzias discussed the Cyprus problem, and the conference held last week, which was attended by him, Cavusoglu, and the UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson as the three guarantor power representatives.
EU Commission President Jean Claude Juncker was also part of the talks on the security and guarantees issue, the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots were discussing with the guarantor power representatives.
ANA-MPA also learnt that the Greek Foreign Minster noted the threatening stance the Turkish representation had towards the EU’s Juncker.
Asked about press reports he will not attend the next conference on Cyprus, Kotzias dismissed the media reports, saying they were “squalor” published by “dirty press”.
On the side-lines of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting Kotzias also met with his British counterpart Boris Johnson.
