“I am confident that the period of time I will spend in Greece will be challenging and full of opportunities to strengthen the already strong relations between Britain and Greece,” the new British ambassador to Greece Kate Smith said late on Tuesday in an event held at the embassy.
Mrs. Smith, who until recently was director of the Department for America & Commonwealth issues, succeeds John Kitmer, who completed his term in Athens in December 2016.
“I do not want to write history. I do not have such expectations amid the current circumstance. It will be an interesting period, full of challenges. We have an opportunity to strengthen the already strong relations between Britain and Greece,” she said.
She also referred to the relations between the countries that are based in history, values, civilisation, commerce, investments and certainly the relations between the two peoples.
