Cyprus will not involve itself in a bilateral issue, which has caused tension between Turkey and Greece, SigmaLive learnt on Friday.
Turkey has criticised Greece’s decision to not extradite eight Turkish soldiers, who fled to Greece following a coup attempt in July.
Asked if the ongoing negotiations of the Cyprus problem will be affected, SigmaLive learnt from a government source that the issue if related to a decision of a Greek court and any involvement of Cyprus would not be justified.
A media report in Cyprus, citing Foreign Ministry sources has also said that the issues between Greece and Turkey are not expected to affect the Cyprus problem discussions.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Turkey will take the appropriate measures, which could include the cancellation of an agreement with Greece regarding the readmission of refugees to Turkey.
