Greek Parliament ratifies agreement with Kuwait for cooperation in tourism

Greek Parliament plenum on Monday passed a draft tourism ministry bill for the ratification of an agreement between Greece and Kuwait for cooperation in tourism, signed on June 12, 2014.

Addressing Parliament, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said that the tourism markets of the Middle East were a national tourism policy priority and part of an effort to break into new and dynamic foreign markets.

She noted that there had already been a two-digit increase in visitors from such wealthy Middle East markets in 2016, as a result of coordinated efforts.

The agreement allows both parties to participate in exhibitions, seminars and other tourism-related events in each country, organise visits for travel agencies, reporters and media representatives, notify of incentives for investment in tourism, exchange information and knowhow, encourage bilateral cooperation between tourist and travel agencies in both countries, exchange information relating to tourism and hotel training.

It also provides for the creation of a mixed committee to oversee progress in the implementation of the above actions.
