Greece’s prospect for the future passes through the development of its geostrategic role and the country’s upgrading into a commercial, transport and telecommunications hub for the wider region, Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas told the Athens Macedonian News Agency on Monday.
Pappas, who is paying an official visit to Israel, underlined that the EuroAsia Interconnector which will link Greece with Cyprus and Israel is “a project of global geopolitical importance which constitutes another extraordinary opportunity for Greece.”
The prospect of upgrading the EuroAsia Interconnector from sole energy to energy and telecommunications with the addition of an optic fibre means the upgrading of Greece’s strategic role in the wider region, he added.
