The General Secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organisation Dimitrios Tryfonopoulos on Thursday resigned as head of GNTO, it was announced.
Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura, who has proposed Tryfonopoulos for a position in the UN World Tourism Organisation, accepted his resignation and thanked him for their cooperation, wishing him every success in his new duties.
In the meanwhile, in order to strengthen the international presence of Greece, the Greek Tourism Ministry on Thursday said that the country has submitted its application to occupy one of the seats allocated to the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the 2018 – 2021 four-year term.
