Greece-Cyprus-Israel Summit in progress in Thessaloniki

Yet another step to expand Greece-Cyprus-Israel cooperation will be taken in the 3rd Trilateral Summit held in Thessaloniki on Thursday, to be attended by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades. The Summit is held in a crucial period following the latest developments in the Middle East. The problems in the relations between the Arab countries and Qatar, the situation in Syria and the fight against terrorism are some of the issues that will be discussed, together with the Cyprus issue and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Before the Trilateral Summit, the High-Level Council for Greece-Israel Cooperation convened, with PMs Tsipras and Netanyahu engaging in talks. PM Netanyahu is also expected to meet with President Anastasiades.

The three countries will also talk about their cooperation in the energy field, and in particular about the East Med natural gas pipeline and the Israel-Greece grid interconnection through Cyprus.
